MAN AND HIS DREAM

 MAN AND HIS DREAM
Brethren, it would be so imperative to consider the about to be stated fact closely. I’m not in any way tentative because I can visualize the superlative outcome this measure could yield. Mind you, learning is not all about attending classes; it’s about telling yourself that you ought to know that which you’re yet and meant/bound to know.
In Physics, a certain term is known as a “mirage”. In philosophy, similar phenomenon is being tagged as a “fallacy”. In English language, we may have come across a word known as “illusion”. Most literally icons also call it “delusion”. In biology, we may use “myopia”. But I usually address it as panorama insufficiency.
One fateful day, I was sunk in a dismal torpor having witnessed a certain scene that can never be erased from my humble cerebrum. It has to do with a lanky mad man that issued a dirty slap to one of pedestrians passing along his territory located at one of the busy streets in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. You needed to witness the scene. You shouldn’t be biased over this; rather it calls for a thorough meditation amongst the eloquent individuals with great profundity in our midst.
On the other hand, to my greatest amazement, I’ve seen a woman who safeguards her academic certificates as if any other person around her is a prey that specializes on piercing and sucking of certificates. In that regard, she sees herself as the only legible custodian to such documents and applies cruelty whenever one tries to trespass. The aforementioned stories sound crazy; isn’t it?
Our topic remains, man and his dream. Honestly if I’m not mistaken, virtually every man has derailed in respect to the pursuit of his/her dream. I’ve a token story to share that may have a link with this topic.
A good friend of mine residing in the same city, Owerri with me once narrated a highly inspirational experience he encountered to me. Though it might sound crazy but it was truly motivational. He said, one fateful day, he was passing along old Okigwe road by Tetlow, all in Owerri and eventually he encountered a bus heading to Ikeduru and as well Mbano which were situated outskirts of Owerri . He was not meant to travel to any of these places. He wasn’t even a traveler. But having seen a very charming young lady in the bus, he decided to join the travelers. And he sat very close to the lady in question. On the process of the journey, he initiated a conversation with the lady which became progressive; and his motive was also accomplished and successful. Both parties exchanged contact and subsequently the relationship metamorphosed into marriage. Today, the young man is happily married with the lady and she has begotten a bouncing baby boy. Let’s ride on!
Yes, any reasonable person that perceives such story would definitely say that the man acted so crazy, if not idiotic. But I want to unequivocally tell you that madness is required in most of the pursuits towards our respective dreams or desires. And in such case, if you fail to apply madness, failure would definitely await you.
Lest I forget, one of my professor friends and mentors also told me a certain story which has to do with his past experience in the print media. He said; a certain clause was written at the entrance to their news room which reads, “You don’t have to be mad to work here, but it’s necessary”. It sounds crazy too, right? But notwithstanding, it’s highly inspirational.
At this juncture I humbly ask, how do you stride or utilize your opportunity towards actualizing your worthwhile dream(s)? Maybe you easily get discouraged or pissed off the moment challenges/risks set in without knowing that such barrier is necessary and as well requires madness. We must not forget that, there’s no easy way to get to the peak; on the process, you’re bound to encounter thorns or reasonable hurdles which shall fortify your success. It’s not a matter of choice. It’s cowardly to quit as soon as you approach a risky venture because the world itself is an adventure. Yes, the world is not a bed of roses and had never been.
Beloved, we must always endeavour to overcome any risk or challenge that sets into any of our journey to the success room. There’s no measurable limit to what you can achieve; believe in yourself. Everyday dawns with a new challenge; but if you have a winning attitude, every challenge becomes an adventure and a worthwhile opportunity to create a new reality. Free yourself and fly.
Thus, challenge your dream as challenges set in, so your success won’t be a mirage or fallacy. Think about it!

THE NEED FOR LG CHAIRMEN TO BE RESIDENT IN THEIR RESPECTIVE HEADQUARTERS

THE NEED FOR LG CHAIRMEN TO BE RESIDENT IN THEIR
                          RESPECTIVE HEADQUARTERS
Surely, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. But the question behind this fact is, how does one commence the step and who is bound to initiate it? On this note, I must tell you that the answer is very simple. The person(S) involved in the journey is/are meant to initiate the step and such step ought to be commenced by first and foremost making your legs to be flexible. Having made your legs flexible, then you must be ready to stretch out one of them and this automatically signifies a step.
Maybe we are yet to comprehend the above analysis. If that’s the case, then let’s simplify. If you intend to embark on any project, you must begin by planning towards the implementation of the proposed project. Your plan shall inculcate the capital involvement, risk and benefit behind such project. And I bet you, any project that is properly planned is expected to yield the desired outcome (output).
Presently, there’s a bill lying in the Federal House of Assembly as regards making the existing third arm of government or otherwise known as local government councils in the country autonomy. This simply means that, the bill is soliciting for enactment of a law that would make the stated arm of government to stand on its own. In this regard, the council would be entitled to its monthly/annual allocation direct from the federal government rather than the ongoing practice that has to do with it dependency on the state government. On the contrary, if I’m given a role to play in this aspect, I would unequivocally say that this proposal is not necessary. From my point of view, what ought to be of paramount importance to the concerned individuals or the entire citizenry is on how the state governments can be adequately sanitized. When I used the word relating to sanitary, I meant a corruption-free administration. Because most of the state governments are into bargain with their local government counterparts. And such act is an aberration and as well making the system to be unhealthy.
I must tell you this; if the third arm of government becomes an autonomy, then I’m afraid, the spy which the second arm of government stands for will no longer be obtainable. And believe me; this would continually constitute mismanagement of funds. Even if the funds should be granted to them directly by the federal government, there’s still need for the state governors to be allowed to exercise their supervisory role as stipulated in the 1999 Constitution as amended. This is my humble and candid opinion. You can counter it if you wish because it’s just a critique subject to criticism.
Our topic for today is the need for the local government council chairmen to be resident at their respective headquarters. Of course, it’s no longer news that the LG chairmen are non-resident of their various headquarters. They all reside at their home residence. The most disgusting aspect of this is that most of them end-up residing at the capital territory of their respective states. Then on this note; one may ask, who is actually the governor of the state in question and who are the LG chairmen since each of them is resident at the same arena. Yes, if the state governor and his/her LG chairmen reside at the same area, then it’s definitely out of point.
I want to use this avenue to conscientize the minds of the members of the Federal House of Assembly; the best thing they can do for the dying third arm of government which was introduced to decentralized good governance is to ensure or enact a law stating that all the LG chairmen should be resident at their respective local government council headquarters. On this ground, formidable and befitting structures would be built at the various headquarters for the chairmen and their supervisory councilors. Then the ward councilors would be mandated to be resident at their respective wards. Apparently, such phenomenon will surely lead to efficacy in good governance. Thus, effective and efficient delivery which remains the prayer of every concerned soul would be assured. Above all, it would be an avenue of bringing the aforementioned chairmen closer to their subjects.
Brethren, if truly that this proposed initiative is a journey of a thousand miles; therefore we must begin with a step. And the first step lies in the National Assembly. Definitely the ripe time to start stretching out the leg is now. Think about it!
