The name Rt. Hon. Dr. Ben Uzoukwu (BU) Nzeribe, has been a household name for decades now, not just in Imo State but the entire Nigerian sphere.
The bearer of the said name was the Deputy Speaker of the Nigerian Parliament in the First Republic.
Chief Dr. Nzeribe, Ekwueme as he was popularly called, was the man behind the success story of Awo-Omamma, an ancient town situated in Oru-East Local Government Area of Imo State.
He established several monumental institutions such as Pox Office, Christ the King Catholic Church (C.K.C), Santana Primary School, Comprehensive Secondary School, all in Awo-Omamma as well as Awo-Omamma Community Hospital, which later metamorphosed into General Hospital, Awo-Omamma as it is currently called, just to mention but a few.
Dr. Nzeribe who died recently at the age of 96 was committed to Mother Earth on Friday, 5th October 2018 in a grand style in his country home Umuezike, Ezi-Awo II Autonomous Community in Awo-Omamma of Imo State.
According to our correspondent, the burial saw the presence of countless dignitaries from all walks of life within the shores of Nigeria and beyond. Rostrum equally gathered that those who knew the deceased too well were in their numbers pouring encomiums on him as they bade him farewell.
May his soul rest in the bosom of the Almighty.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended indefinitely the party’s governorship primary in Imo State. This is not unconnected with the irregularities the outing was reportedly characterized with.
The statement was signed by the party’s acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, in Abuja, on Tuesday, 2nd October 2018.
The party also disclosed that it had not cleared the former Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, to contest the Party’s Jigawa South Senatorial District primary.
It said Mr. Abba’s name was erroneously included in the list of NWC-cleared aspirants

The immediate past Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha
has emerged winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship
primaries in Imo.Announcing the results, the returning officer, Mr Emma Nwala, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed in various ways to the success of the electoral process.

“Also, I thank all aspirants, delegates and officials for conducting themselves properly.
“With the power vested on me as returning officer, I hereby declare Emeka Ihedioha the winner and flag bearer of the PDP in Imo for the 2019 governorship election,” Nwala he said.
The exercise which was largely peaceful, hitch-free and transparent had over 3,000 delegates drawn from the 27 local government areas in the state participating.
The party adopted the indirect primaries with delegates casting their votes in alphabetical order of their senatorial zones – Okigwe, Orlu and Owerri zones.
Other aspirants who participated in the process are: former senator representing Okigwe senatorial zone, Mr Athan Achonu, who scored 63 votes, Prof. Jude Njoku, 21votes, Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN), 7 votes and Mr Chukwuemeka Ezeji, 1 vote
